The Martian, Reviewed

The thing about the movie The Martian that is striking me is that it's the only piece of media that I can think of that understands the value of a human life.

But we do not live in the world of The Martian. We live in a world where, instead of everyone knowing, without having to discuss it, that it is worth hundreds of millions of dollars to save an innocent man's life, that we can save the life of an innocent child for $3,500 and that these opporunities are frequently declined with just as little commentary.

Pretty good movie. I should read the book.
